You might have heard the shit show of hate when the all-new PS Plus went live last month, bringing with it PS1 classics on the PS4 and PS5.

There was one major issue. Sony used the PAL 50hz versions of the games, dropping the performance greatly when compared to the NTSC versions.

This tweet below went viral when ANPP+ went live in Asia on May 23rd, as you can hear the disappointment in his voice.

Sony did try to right this issue, dropping an update that upscales the PAL 50hz code, which has only created a ghosting effect during gameplay.

Now Mr. Marmolade is BACK, confirming that ANPP+ PS1 classics in Japan are the Japanese NTSC versions of these PS1 classics from our childhood.

This doesn’t mean that us North American users are in the clear yet. If you remember correctly, 9 out of the 20 games on the US PlayStation Classic mini-console are the PAL 50hz versions. Sony is great about moving two steps forward, then tripping over their own feet, falling almost two steps back.

With 12 days to go until the all-new PS Plus launches in North America, we will see how good Sony will be treating the rest of us paying customers.
