We all enjoy Virtual Reality, whether it’s being immersed in our favorite games, being part of the experience, or just enjoying the social aspect of everything. Virtual Reality allows us to escape and become whomever we want in a different world. There are times when we may have to read something to solve that next clue or see an enemy from a distance to hopefully, gain the upper ground from the situation. But, there is one thing we can all agree on the importance of eyesight. We need to be able to see as much and as clearly as possible. Our eyes will try to adjust as much as possible, but sometimes eye fatigue can set in.

Over the years, as we get older, our eyesight may not be what it once was. Sometimes we have to end up getting glasses or contacts just to make things as clear as can be. There are some that need glasses full time, some may need them for reading, and some for at night time, That is when I decided to reach out to Hons VR, a company that specializes in creating high-quality prescription lenses for VR/AR/FPV headsets where they claim that their lenses are designed to improve not only the clarity but the comfort.

So I wanted to put these lenses to the test and see if they are as claimed. You can get the lenses for both PlayStation VR and PlayStation VR2 headsets. The first thing that you will need to do is to, of course, go get your eyes checked so you can have a prescription and make sure you get your PD measurements. Once that’s out of the way, you would head right over to the Hons VR website. Click on the PlayStation VR Shop Now button which was simple enough.

When selecting the PlayStation VR option, you will then have a choice between the PlayStation VR2 or PlayStation VR lenses.

You will then need to enter your prescription information. Once all the information is filled in, you have the option of adding a blue light filter. Research shows that wearing VR headsets can cause eye strain, eye discomfort, eye fatigue, and blurred vision which no one wants. So by adding on the blue light filter, it can substantially reduce the side effects as most of the blue light will be blocked. The choice is yours, but there is just a small fee to add it. But, a bonus of sorts is how the scratch-resistant and anti-glare coating are both free.

So after just a very short time, you shall receive your Hons VR lenses in a very nice box.

Inside the box, you will find the well-constructed case for the lenses, a note that will have your prescription on them, a cleaning cloth, and if you have any issues, ways to get in contact with them.

Inside the case, you can see how well the lenses are protected and each individual sleeve lets you know which one is for the left (L) and which one is for the right (r).

Since the lenses can be easily removed, the bottom of the lenses has the L and R to let you know which side is which. Also, save the sleeve inserts as you can easily take the lenses out and you can safely place them back in the case.

Installing the adapters onto the PlayStation VR2 was quick and simple as they set right on top of the lenses that are already part of the headset. Putting the headset on, I didn’t notice any difference. The nose area felt great and the overall feel of the headset felt just like it did from day one. But the true test was to see how did things look when the PlayStation VR2 was turned on. I can safely say that everything looked clearer. Don’t get me wrong, ever since I had the PlayStation VR2 headset things have been great with the 4K HDR that the headset brings, but having your own prescription lenses just adds to the experience. From reading about the environment to just seeing the details, truly makes everything even more fantastic. I did notice how my eyes were not nearly as tired as sometimes they would get nor any blurred vision after long sessions when playing VR, and I also did not have any issues with the eye-tracking.

Overall, the Hons VR prescription lenses are a perfect companion to the PlayStation VR2 headset and I found their statement of creating high-quality prescription lenses that not only improve the clarity but the comfort of your VR/AR/FPV experience to be true.
